The 2014 Grow Appalachia session is getting underway with a class being offered this Thursday February 27th at the McCreary County Senior Citizens Center at the County Park. The class will begin at 6:00pm but official members of the Grow Appalachia class for this year should stop by sometime between 4:00-6:00pm for a one-on-one meeting to go over your individual gardening plans. You are asked to bring your Kentucky Garden Guide Book with you to class. The public, included those not officially signed with the Grow Appalachia Project, are invited to attend Thursday’s class at 6:00pm where Greg Whitis from the McCreary County Extension Service and Andy Powell from the Judge Executive’s office will share tips on selection and ordering seeds. Tips will also be offered on when to plan, the best Kentucky varieties of seeds and how to make simple cold frames for a head start on the season. A demonstration will also be held on how to make a cold frame from an old window. The class is free to attend and is open to anyone interested.
