KENTUCKIANS WARNED ABOUT UNCLAIMED PROPERTY SCAMS
posted 07/17/2013 by email@example.com
With recent efforts to return unclaimed property, including money, to Kentuckians, State Treasurer Todd Hollenbach says there are those who seek to take advantage of people through related scams. His office reports several businesses using the Freedom of Information Act to gain information on the owners of unclaimed property in the state. Some of these firms, identified as “finders” or “locators” then attempt to charge for searching for a person’s unclaimed property. While many of the businesses abide by the law Hollenbach says there are many scams related to unclaimed property searches and warns Kentuckians to use caution.
