The wintry blast that came through Kentucky early Monday left roads snow and ice covered and the downed trees and power lines left many without power. South Kentucky RECC, which serves much of McCreary County, reported a total of about 4,000 of its members were without power at the peak of the outage period Monday morning. Outages were reported in all of RECC’s counties including McCreary, Wayne and Pulaski. The primary cause of the outages, according to South Kentucky RECC, was ice breaking tree limbs that then fell across power lines but some wind damage was also reported.
