The break-in at Rite Aid Pharmacy in Whitley City this past weekend remains under investigation with additional details released. We reported Monday that David Debord had been arrested over the weekend by Sheriff’s Detective David Sampson, and faced charges of burglary, theft of a controlled substance and criminal mischief. Officers were first called to the scene of the burglary at about 5:30am Saturday when alarms began sounding. They learned that the suspect, and possibly additional suspects, had allegedly gained entry through the back of the building. Some wiring had been cut and stripped, a safe broken into and a number of prescription pills taken. Officers located Debord in an area behind the store and arrested him, while they continue searching for additional suspects. The McCreary County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation.
