The countdown is on to the annual tradition known as “McCrearyFest” with less than two weeks until the main event day on Saturday October 5th in downtown Whitley City. The day’s events will again include the annual parade, music, food, crafts and more.
The McCrearyFest Pageant is slated for this coming weekend and will split over two evenings with newborn through 9 years competing Friday September 27th and 10 years and older, including the Miss McCrearyFest Pageant, on Saturday September 28th. Both evening’s sessions will begin at 6:00pm and be held at McCreary Central High School Auditorium. While this past Friday was originally set as the deadline for pageant applications, the McCrearyFest Facebook page indicates that the deadline has been extended through today. Applications can be obtained at the McCreary County Public Library, Judge Executive’s Office or McCreary County Museum or online
Some other McCrearyFest activities will include the Shenandoah concert scheduled in downtown Whitley City for 6:00PM Saturday October 5th. While the concert is free to attend, a limited number of special “meet and greet” passes are being sold for $35 each by the McCrearyFest board. Applications are also being taken now for vendors and parade entries with additional information available at, on Facebook or by calling Shane Gilreath at (606)354-6824.
